Playing The National Lottery

They are the only official UK Lottery and the official retailer of Lotto, EuroMillions, Thunderball, Hot Picks, Dream Number and a range of Instant Win Games. Since 1994 they have been selling lottery products in shops and online and have raised over £25 billion for good causes throughout the UK.

Playing online is easy – users only need to open an account and they can buy tickets for all National Lottery games. They can even buy them on the night of a draw – great when they can’t get to the shops. There are loads of reasons to play the lottery online: no queues, you can’t lose your ticket, they will email you if you win and if you do win they will automatically put the money into your bank account.

The National Lottery consists of a number of different games. These are explained below.

Lotto
Lotto is the UK’s biggest lottery game . To play you simply select 6 numbers ranging from 1 to 49.

The Lotto draw takes place twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday and six numbers are drawn, along with one additional number – the bonus number. Match a minimum of three numbers to the main numbers drawn to win a prize. The bonus number is only relevant when you match five main numbers and the bonus number. Lotto can be played online or tickets purchased from a retail outlet.

EuroMillions
EuroMillions is Europe’s biggest, rolling jackpot lottery game. To play select 5 numbers from 1 to 50 and 2 Lucky Stars from 1 to 9.

The draw normally takes place every Friday evening in Paris, and 5 main numbers are drawn along with 2 Lucky Stars. To win a prize a minimum of three numbers is required. These can be a combination of 3 main numbers, 1 main number and 2 Lucky Stars or 2 main numbers and 1 Lucky Star.Match 5 main numbers and 2 Lucky Stars to win the jackpot. ThunderballPlay
Thunderball to win up to £250,000. Select 5 main numbers from 1 to 34 and 1 Thunderball number from 1 to 14.

The draw takes place every Wednesday and Saturday along with the lotto draw, and 5 main numbers are drawn, along with 1 Thunderball. Match 1 number and the Thunderball to win the minimum prize. Match 5 numbers plus the Thunderball to win the top prize of up £250,000. Thunderball can be played online or tickets bought from a retail outlet.

Dream Number
Dream Number offers prizes of up to £500,000. Dream Number can be played alongside Lotto or on its own. Either play the randomly-generated 7-digit Dream Number shown, or choose ‘Lucky Dip’ for a new random number.

To win, match the digits drawn in the same order as your Dream Number, reading from left to right, and starting with the first digit.

Lotto Hotpicks
Lotto HotPicks gives you the chance to win prizes for picking and matching fewer Lotto numbers.

Decide how many numbers you want to pick and select the corresponding ‘Pick’ game. Enter the appropriate amount of numbers for the game you’ve chosen, from 1 to 49.

The Lotto draw takes place every Wednesday and Saturday. Match your Lotto HotPicks numbers against the main Lotto draw numbers to win.

Daily Play
Daily Play gives the chance to win up to £30,000 daily. Simply select 7 main numbers from 1 to 27. The draw takes place every day from Monday to Saturday, and 7 numbers are drawn.
